Terms of use

Terms of use

Version 1, in force from 2026-11-06.

These terms govern your use of Broccolideck’s online service: signing in, playing online, chat, and the introductions that image sharing makes between players. Together with the privacy policy, which is part of them, they are the agreement between you and papermagicboomer (“we”), who runs the service. The app itself is free software under the GNU LGPL 3; these terms do not limit what that licence allows.

Playing locally and over your own network needs no account and is not covered here beyond section 7.

1. Who may use the service

You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher, to create an account. By accepting these terms you confirm that you are.

2. Your account

You sign in with an account at another service (Patreon or Google). Whoever controls that account controls your Broccolideck account, so keep it safe. One person, one account; you may link several sign-in providers to it.

Your displayed name is shown to other players. It must not impersonate someone else, a member of staff or the service, and must not be offensive. We may change a name that breaks this.

You may delete your account in the app at any time (section 8).

3. Tiers and payment

The service has a free tier and paid tiers. Paid tiers come with a Patreon membership and follow it: Patreon handles the payment, its terms govern billing, refunds and cancellation, and we never see your payment details. A tier sets how many online games you may have going at once and how many replays you may keep. When a membership ends, the account keeps its games and returns to the free tier; games beyond its limit carry on but no new ones can start until it is under the limit again.

4. Playing fairly

Play the games as they are meant to be played, by their rules, which the service enforces. Don’t:

  • use more than one account to play yourself, or share an account;
  • use any program other than the app or a build of its source to play, or alter the app to see what you may not see;
  • disrupt the service: flood it, probe it, or interfere with other players’ games;
  • harass, threaten or abuse other players, in chat or by your name.

A seat that stops answering forfeits by its game’s pace, so a player who leaves a game loses it. We may end games, void results and ratings, and suspend or close accounts that break these terms, with or without warning.

5. Chat

Chat in online games is off unless both players turn it on, and is between the two of them. Chat lines are kept with the game while the game is kept. Either player may report a line, which sends it and the lines around it to us to look at; we may act on reports under section 4. Blocking a player ends chat with them in every game.

6. Games, versions and availability

An online game finishes on the rules it started with, even after the rules are updated; games on a superseded version end without a result six months after the update, and the app warns you in the game beforehand. We may need to reset rooms, matches or ratings, or take the service down for maintenance, and we will say so in the app’s news where we can. The service is provided as it is, without a promise that it will be available, uninterrupted or free of errors.

7. Card images and other people’s work

The app ships no card art. Any image it shows comes from a server you chose or from other players who share theirs; whether you may fetch, keep or share an image is between you and the rights holder, and you are responsible for what you share. Image sharing introduces players to each other and nothing more; it needs no account and is not part of the paid tiers.

Broccolideck’s games are inspired by other games, whose names, cards and art belong to their publishers. Broccolideck is not affiliated with, endorsed by or licensed by them.

8. Ending your account

Delete your account from the app’s online pane. Deleting it at once ends your sessions, forfeits your games in progress, removes you from waiting rooms and matches, and deletes your sign-ins, ratings and sessions; your seats in recorded games then name nobody. The record that you accepted these terms is kept without anything that names you, as the privacy policy says.

We may close your account for breaking these terms, or if the service closes.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including lost games, ratings, replays or data, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Changes

When these terms or the privacy policy change, the app shows the new version and asks you to accept it before you play online again; the version in force is the one with the highest number on this site. Changes that only correct errors or clarify wording may apply without a new acceptance.

11. Contact

Questions about these terms go through the Patreon page named on this site.
