A holodeck for tabletop card games.

Broccolideck plays digital versions of games inspired by classic trading card and board games. Take on a trained computer player, pass the device around, play over your LAN, or sit down at a table online.

Linux, macOS, Windows, Android and Android TV, the browser, and even e-readers. Free and open source.

The games

Five tables, two bundles.

Each game is a faithful rules engine with its own look, a trained computer opponent, and every way to play. They come as two apps: Board Games I andCard Games I.

See it played

Cards that move.

Units slide across the realm, hands fan out, workers hop between places and the clock counts down. Here is a minute across the tables.

Play your way

Against the computer, across the room, or across the world.

A trained opponent

Every game has a computer player trained by self-play, at several levels, that thinks on its own thread while you look at the board.

Hotseat

Two people, one device: the pass-device screen keeps every hand private until it is handed over.

LAN play

Host a game and the devices on your network find it by themselves; everything travels encrypted, with no account and no internet.

Online

Private rooms by code, open tables, and ranked matchmaking with ratings. Live games on a chess clock, or a move a day. Anyone can watch.

Logs, saves and replays

Every move is on the record: read the log, save a game and pick it up on another day, keep replays of your online games.

Every screen

Desktop, phone, tablet, TV with a remote, the browser, and e-ink readers. The table layout fits the screen it is on.

Card images

Bring your own art.

Broccolideck ships no card art: it draws every card from its data, cleanly, and shows scans when you have them. Point it at a folder of images you have the right to use, or turn on peer-to-peer sharing and fetch them from other players, checked against the game's catalog so nothing but a genuine image ever arrives.

How card images work

Support

Keep the holodeck running.

The app is free, the source is open, and playing locally and over the LAN costs nothing. Online play runs on servers; a small pledge on Patreon pays for them and opens more tables at once.
