Playing
Pick a game on the home screen, then New game → Local. The setup form is the game’s own (decks for the card games, the mode for the woodland game), and the game starts on its table.
The computer
Section titled “The computer”By default the other seat is the computer. Each game has a computer player trained by self-play, at Easy, Medium and Hard levels; it thinks on its own thread, so the table stays responsive while it does. The deckbuilder game can seat several computers at once, and plays the boss against you in its cooperative campaign.
Hotseat
Section titled “Hotseat”Tick Hotseat for two people on one device. Whenever the other player has to decide something, the pass the device overlay covers the table until they tap it, so nobody sees a hand that is not theirs.
Making a decision
Section titled “Making a decision”Every decision is a prompt: pick a card, choose a square, confirm an amount. The choice panel lists what you can do, and a card or a square that is a valid answer lights up on the table; one-tap answers go straight through. Digits pick, Enter confirms, Escape declines.
- Hover a card to see it full size on the desktop; on a touchscreen hold a finger on it. A press held longer than half a second only looks and never selects.
- The log on the side (or behind its button on a small screen) is every move so far, in words, with the cards named; it can be copied as plain text.
- The overview button shows the whole table at once when a game has more zones than fit.
- Undo is available in local games, and in LAN games when the host allows it, for actions that revealed no new information.
- A game of the tactical card game can be conceded from its menu; the other games end by their rules.
Idle turns
Section titled “Idle turns”When a seat has nothing to do but pass, the app can end its turn for it after a few seconds (Settings → End idle turns after), so a game against the computer moves along.
Screens and controls
Section titled “Screens and controls”- Desktop: mouse and keyboard; every prompt lists its shortcuts. The log and chat sit beside the table, and can be collapsed.
- Phone: the table is pinch-zoomable; decisions come up as a sheet from the bottom, the log and chat from the right.
- Tablet: the desktop layout, sized for touch.
- TV: the arrow keys or a remote’s D-pad move a green frame between the things that can be chosen, OK chooses, Back closes whatever is open (then the game’s menu, then home), and Menu opens the game’s menu. Resting the frame on a card previews it.
- E-ink: the paper theme, no animations, and larger tap targets.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”The settings dialog (from the title bar or the game’s menu) has the general settings (animations, idle turns, image sharing and the image server, your name for LAN games) and a section for the game you are in, where each game names its own image server and chooses what to show on the table. The About entry lists the app’s version and the licences of everything it ships.
